Climb six rocks around Neuerburg!

Beilsturm: Just a few meters from the market square, the climbing adventure begins right below the striking tower of the old city fortifications. Until the end of the 18th century, the Beilsturm served as the residence of the fire watchman of Neuerburg. From the modern dome, which resembles a knight’s helmet, you have a fantastic view of the city.

Ritterstieg: From the market square, you’ll see the large city coat of arms and the climbing route on the rocky slope above Neuerburg. Here, you’ll climb under, beside, and over the coat of arms up to the so-called “Kleine Kanzel.” Spectacular views are guaranteed!

Pest Cemetery: Don’t let the name scare you! After a hike through the forest, past the “Große Kanzel” viewpoint and downhill toward the city, the third climbing stage ends near the former burial site for victims of the plague, now marked by an information board.

Dragon’s Cave: A short walk along the road, and you’ll see the former railway tunnel, through which a bike path now runs. On both sides of this “Dragon’s Cave,” a climbing section awaits, where you have the choice between an easier and a truly challenging version.

Witches’ Falls: Follow the Enz River south to the double waterfall at the old stately mill. This unusual climbing route runs along one of the two arched bridges. Its name recalls the witch trials that once took place in Neuerburg / the women who were once condemned as witches in Neuerburg.

Castle: The final stage leads uphill past the Hexentanzplatz to the town’s landmark, Neuerburg Castle. The first climbing section is located on a rock near the gate tower with the dungeon. Next comes the castle assault: up the wall and into the castle courtyard. Take a look around the complex, which today houses youth groups. From the castle, you’ll make your way back to the market square through the upper town. Difficulty level: Castle B or A/B, Castle Assault B
