Remigiusberg near Kusel—Germany’s Oldest Dinosaur

—this is the title of the final lecture in the 2026 “Jurassic Talks” series. Sebastian Voigt, director of the GEOSKOP Prehistoric Museum near Kusel in the Western Palatinate since 2012, will be a guest speaker at the Dinosaur Park. The research focus of this geologist and paleontologist, who holds a Ph.D., is the evolution of early terrestrial vertebrates and their habitats.

Located in the Palatinate Uplands, roughly halfway between Kaiserslautern and Trier, the Remigiusberg near Kusel is one of the world’s most significant sites for early dinosaur fossils. Fossils dating back some 300 million years provide unique insights into the early evolution of four-legged animals. Join us on a journey back in time to a completely different world—when Germany was located on the equator!
