Rental of wheelchair pulling devices

In the Nature Park South Eifel, wheelchair pulling devices are available for hire so that you can also travel barrier-free on hiking trails.

The South Eifel Nature Park is implementing barrier-free projects in the South Eifel as part of the INTERREG project "Accessibility without borders" and as one of ten winning regions in the "Reisen für Alle" (Tourism for all) model region competition.

An important part of this realisation is the use of pulling devices for wheelchairs on hiking trails. These Swiss-Tracs have now been introduced in the Southern Eifel Nature Park. This enables wheelchair users to travel up to 20 kilometres independently and pass over ledges or other obstacles without tipping over. Slopes and uneven terrain can be overcome effortlessly with a traction device, even with limited gripping function and little strength in the arms.

These traction devices are available for hire at the Teufelsschlucht Nature Park Centre in Ernzen and at the Euvea Hotel in Neuerburg.

Additional details about the project as well as information on hiking routes in the Southern Eifel Nature Park that have been specially tested for the pulling devices can be found at the Naturpark Südeifel (Nature Park South eifel), www.naturpark-suedeifel.de.

Details on the hire of the pulling equipment with the option to book online at the Teufelsschlucht Nature Park Centre in Ernzen can be found here.
