Auf Entschleunigungstour durch die Täler von Alsbach und Enz

The Alsbach and Enz valleys do not boast a wealth of cultural treasures. They are more captivating due to their idyllic and sometimes very enchanted sections. The Enz valley also offers one of the most impressive natural phenomena in the Southern Eifel rock country, the "Roter Puhl" .

We start our day tour at the village square in Mettendorf. A little way along the main road in the direction of Sinspelt, we reach the "Hangenbach" via the "Im Weidig" road behind the sports field and follow the signs for the Südeifel Nature Park circular route no. 48.

We pass through a quiet area on the edge of the village and approach the Alsbach valley, a truly idyllic piece of nature. Relatively at the beginning of the valley, we come across our first rest and refreshment stop - the water treading pool at the barbecue hut. Comfortable wooden loungers tempt us to take a short breather.

Now we immerse ourselves completely in the Alsbach valley and listen to the relaxing lapping of the water. Over a small hill and through a small forest, we finally reach Sinspelt, where the Heyenhof farm café offers a welcome break with coffee and cake (Thursdays to Sundays from 2 p.m.).

After refreshments, it's not that far to our starting point in Mettendorf. However, we now come across the scenic highlight of the tour - the "Roter Puhl". Here, the Enz has carved its way into the red sandstone from the Triassic period, which is impressive in its bright orange-red colors. The deposits in the river and delta areas are around 220 million years old.

We take a break to admire the cliff face and cool our feet in the Enz.

Back in Mettendorf, we reward ourselves with a delicious meal at the Kickert restaurant.

TIP: Alternatively, you can also dine at the "Fronhof" restaurant. Both restaurants, which also offer overnight accommodation, can be found in the main street.
